Kopi Kapal Api is one of the oldest Indonesian coffee brands. It is owned by PT Santos Jaya Abadi of the Kapal Api Group; the group established by the late business man Go Soe Loet in 1927. Go Soe Loet established his company under the name Hap Hoo Tjan, selling coffee powder in the traditional market in Surabaya, East Java. The brand Kapal Api itself only started in the 1930s.
