Elisabeth Oktofani is an Indonesian journalist, published author and researcher . She has been working for both national and international media outlets, including Jakarta Globe, Beritasatu.com, Khabar Southeast Asia, Yosef Ardi News, The Bud Magazine as well as Associated Press.
Graduated from University of Atma Jaya Yogyakarta in 2010, Oktofani starts her journalism career before she graduated. She starts her journalism career as an intern feature writer at The Yak/The Bud Magazine in 2009. The following year, she has another opportunity to do a 3-month internship at the Jakarta Globe in early 2010. She works as a full-time general news reporter at the Jakarta Globe by November 2010. She works at the Jakarta Globe for more than one year.
In February 2012, Oktofani starts to work as a freelance journalist. She is a regular contributor to Khabar Southeast Asia covering news on terrorism, social and human right issue in Indonesia. Since November 2013, Oktofani worked as a journalist/ researcher at Yosef Ardi News, a boutique business news portal in Jakarta.
During her career, Oktofani receives two scholarships in journalism. Those are including a 1-month internship at the Associated Press Jakarta bureau from the Jakarta Foreign Correspondent Club and an environmental journalism course in Bangkok (included cities in southern Thailand) on marine issue; it was granted by the Southeast Asia Start Regional Center/ FOJO Media Institute Bangkok. In July 2015, Oktofani took an Academic English Course at School of Continuing Study, University of Toronto for three months. In addition to that, Oktofani also published her first book titled “Bule Hunter: Money, Sex and Love” on September 2014.
Since January 2018, Oktofani serves as United Nation Volunteer (UNV) with World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office Bangladesh for nine months. Subsequently, Oktofani takes the opportunity to do one year of MA program on Culture, Society and Globalization at Department of Sociology, University of York, United Kingdom. The program is expected to be completed by September 2019.
