About Oktofani

Elisabeth Oktofani is an Indonesian journalist, author, and dedicated researcher with a rich career history across national and international platforms, including the Jakarta Globe, Beritasatu.com, and the Associated Press. With a foundational degree from the University of Atma Jaya Yogyakarta, Elisabeth embarked on her journalism career early, quickly establishing herself as a specialist in terrorism, social justice, and human rights through her freelance work from 2012 onwards.

A significant milestone in her academic journey is her Master’s degree in Culture, Society, and Globalization from the University of York, where she completed a compelling dissertation on “Exploring the Rohingya Crisis: The Implementation of Foucault’s Biopolitics concerning the Rohingya Community in Myanmar.” This work underscored her ability to meld complex theoretical frameworks with contemporary global issues, revealing systematic targeting of the Rohingya through Myanmar’s state policies as a manifestation of Foucault’s biopolitics theory.

Beyond academia, Elisabeth’s explorations into the finance and technology sectors as a self-taught cryptocurrency investor highlight her versatility and analytical skills. Her commitment to societal betterment is further evidenced by her role as a United Nations Volunteer with the World Health Organization. As a mother, fitness enthusiast, and seasoned freelancer, her global living experiences have deeply enriched her professional endeavors and personal worldview.

Now residing in Manila, Elisabeth is poised to leverage her comprehensive journalism background, research capabilities, and a keen interest in finance and technology. She aims to apply her distinct insights and experiences toward impactful initiatives within these dynamic sectors, aspiring to drive significant change and innovation.
